He wrote his name into the history books of the FIA European Rallycross Championship by winning the first-ever race of the debuting Euro RX4 category. Andréa Bénézet took a dominant victory behind the wheel of a Renault Clio Rally4 during the opening weekend in Latvia. The French driver is part of a true rallycross dynasty. His father, Eddy Bénézet, reached the pinnacle of the European Championship's Division 2 category in 2000 in the cockpit of a Peugeot 306 S16, while his grandfather, Jean-Jacques Bénézet, secured 22 race wins in the French Rallycross Championship between 1984 and 1991. Furthermore, the latter managed the Rallycross Committee of the French Federation of Automobile Sport (FFSA) for 15 years, and subsequently served as president of the French Rallycross Organizers Association for 14 years. He stepped down from his presidential duties last February.
