Máté Benyó was voted Rookie of the Year by experts and fans last year, despite being practically unknown on the European scene before. In the opening round at Nyirád, as a rookie in Euro RX1 – and the only Hungarian – he immediately made it to the final, where he finished fifth. He placed seventh in Portugal, demonstrating that he is a force to be reckoned with. However, in the second half of the season, his earlier good results didn't continue, and he finished ninth overall.
