Three-time European Autocross champion Tamás Kárai debuted in the FIA European Rallycross Championship in 2015, immediately stepping onto the podium in Belgium. Over the following years he steadily progressed, gaining valuable experience, and in both 2022 and 2023 he achieved his best overall result by finishing fifth in the championship standings. Three years ago he scored two third-place finishes, while in 2024 he hoped to go even further with the upgraded Audi and stand on the podium at his home event at Nyirád. However, this was not to be, as he collided with Máté Benyó in the final and failed to finish. He ended the race sixth and the championship seventh after also reaching the final in Portugal, where he finished fifth. Last season he contested only two events: he finished fifth in the Nyirád final, but in Turkey he finally achieved a podium, taking second place in the final — the best rallycross result of his career so far.
