The son of two-time rally world champion Marcus Grönholm quickly rose through the rallycross ranks. Niclas Grönholm won the Finnish championship in 2015 and made his World Championship debut in the same year. From the following year until now, he has been a full-season driver in World RX, missing only a few races. He finished third overall in every season between 2021 and 2023, and just missed the podium in the two years before that. Although he finished second three times last year and won the first race at Nyirád, he still only finished fifth in the points race. The Finn started this season excellently, finishing first in Portugal and second in Sweden, taking the lead in the overall standings.
