The Czech talent became a rallycross driver by following a well-known family template. His father, also named Václav, was a long-time regular in rallycross events, making the discipline a natural path for his son. Driving a Volkswagen Lupo, Václav Tůma Jr. won the National 1600 category in the Rallycross Cup in 2019. In 2023, he finished a commendable second overall in the Super1600 classification of the Central European Zone Rallycross Cup. He is also well known at Nyirád, having entered events held at the "Red Cauldron" several times; fans could see him compete there in the Central European Zone event in 2024, for instance. He made his debut in the ERX3 category of the FIA European Rallycross Championship last year with a 12th-place finish in Portugal, reached the final to finish sixth in Sweden, and celebrated his best result to date with a fourth position at Nyirád.
