He started his rallycross career in 2018 in the Junior Cup series of the Hungarian Championship, later moving up to the Mazda Cup and the Super 1600 category. In 2024, Sámuel Kovács replicated the feat achieved by Balázs Körmöczi at Nyirád back in 2023. Making his debut at Höljes in the opening round of the FIA European Rallycross Championship, the 20-year-old driver finished third in the final. However, he could not maintain this momentum; he failed to reach the finals in the subsequent rounds and ultimately finished sixth overall in the standings. He opened last season with a superb third place in Portugal, but managed only 12th in Sweden, before bouncing back at his home track at Nyirád to take the bottom step of the podium. He finished fourth in the points standings at the end of the year. This season, backed by a more competitive technical setup, his goal is to clinch the European Championship title.
