João Ribeiro
João Ribeiro began his career on two wheels, competing in motorcycle racing from 1999 until switching to cars in 2016. He entered the Portuguese championship with a Super 1600 Citroën Saxo and became champion four times between 2017 and 2021. Ribeiro debuted in the FIA European Rallycross Championship in 2020, and in 2022 missed the Euro RX3 overall podium by just a single point. In 2024 he finished only five points behind Nils Volland in the title race. At Nyirád the two collided in the final, and although Ribeiro crossed the line first, a post-race penalty dropped him to second place. Last year, however, he dominated the category, winning three of the five rounds and comfortably becoming Euro RX3 champion. It was therefore clear that he would follow the example of the previous two champions and move up to Euro RX1.
