Team owner, successful entrepreneur and experienced driver — all of these describe René Münnich, who began his rallycross career in the FIA European Rallycross Championship in 2007. He made his debut at Nyirád in Division 1A (now Euro RX3), finishing fourth. Since 2014 he has been a regular World RX competitor, mostly driving a SEAT Ibiza. He contested full seasons in 2016 and 2022, while also competing in the FIA World Touring Car Championship up to 2016, highlighting his versatility. In 2024 he once again attempted a World RX campaign, but had little influence in the “Battle of Technologies”, his best result being fifth place in Portugal, eventually finishing seventh overall. It was therefore understandable that last year he returned to the FIA European Rallycross Championship. Although he skipped the opening Portuguese round, he competed in the next four events and finished sixth overall.
