A 2007 British Rallycross Champion, Ollie O’Donovan made his FIA World Rallycross Championship debut in 2014 at Lydden Hill in England, later reaching the semi-finals at the season finale in Argentina. In the following years, he occasionally competed in the World Championship with a Ford Fiesta while also participating in selected rounds of the FIA European Rallycross Championship.
The Irish driver, competing in the premier Supercar category (now Euro RX1), reached the final in both Norway and Spain during his debut European Championship season in 2015, eventually finishing eighth overall. In 2017, he secured his first podium finish in Barcelona. After a three-year break, he returned to the World Championship grid in 2021 at Lohéac, France, while his son Patrick O'Donovan competed as a rookie in the FIA RX2e Championship. O’Donovan Sr. planned a full FIA European Rallycross Championship campaign in 2022 but ultimately only contested the first two rounds, finishing 15th on both occasions. The following year he only started at Nyirád, again finishing 15th, but in 2024 he entered every round and concluded the ERX1 championship in 11th place. During these years he raced the rare Proton Iriz, but for this season he switched machinery. Team RX Racing provided former factory-developed Peugeot 208 WRX cars for both Oliver and his son Patrick, powered by the latest ORECA engines.
